Anxiety

What to do when Anxiety hits you like a brick.

Let’s be honest. Everyone has some degree of anxiety in their lives. Anxiety is natural and sometimes a necessary feeling to have. But when does it begin to become a problem?
Here are signs you may need help:
  • It’s consistent. You recognize that there’s always a level of anxiety throughout the day, every day.
  • It’s starting to interfere with normal life. (ex. Avoiding certain places, dropping responsibilities)
  • It is intense, causing all sorts of physical symptoms
  • You’re having insomnia
  • It feels out of control and shows up when you want it least

A note on panic attacks

Not everyone suffering with anxiety has panic attacks. Panic attacks are normally short but intense bursts of anxiety. The panic attack itself is a scary sensation because of how sudden it.
Symptoms of a panic attack include:
  • Fast heart beat and chest pains
  • Gasping for air
  • Feeling like you’re going to pass out
  • Shaking
  • Nausea
  • Feeling detached, like you’re observing yourself
